They use polypropylene cones with tough, ribbed, UV-treated surrounds for precise linear excursion and reliability. Using zero protrusion PEI tweeters ensures you get every bit of clarity you need, without interfering with factory grilles. Adding a CX amplifier will give you even more power and clarity to your system.

My door panel hits the speaker after installation. How do I fix this clearance?

The CSC693 has a "zero-protrusion" tweeter design, but the 3-way mid-range still sits 0.47" above the frame. If your factory grille won't fit, use a 1/4" spacer ring or foam "fast rings" to create a gap between the speaker and the door panel.

I’m replacing factory speakers and the new Kicker bass sounds weaker. Why?

This is usually due to "out of phase" wiring. Ensure the terminal with the (+) mark (the larger tab) is connected to the positive factory wire. If one speaker is inverted, the bass frequencies will cancel each other out entirely.

These are 4-ohm speakers; can I safely use them with my 2-ohm factory system?

Yes, but the volume may be slightly lower than your stock speakers. To fix this "low volume" issue, you should use a small 4-channel amplifier. This allows the CSC693 to reach its 150W RMS potential and provides much cleaner sound.

The speaker fits the cutout, but the screw holes don't match my car's layout. Help?

6x9 openings vary by manufacturer (especially Toyota/Chrysler). Do not force screws into the metal. Use a vehicle-specific 6x9 adapter bracket. This provides a stable mounting surface and ensures the speaker is centered for the best sound.

I hear a buzzing sound during heavy bass notes. Is the speaker blown?

Often, it’s not the speaker but the door metal or plastic panel vibrating. Apply a small piece of sound-deadening material (like NVX SDTK3) around the mounting hole to stiffen the metal and stop the "mechanical" buzzing.

My factory speaker had four wires, but this Kicker only has two. What do I do?

Your car likely has a factory-amplified system with separate woofer and tweeter signals. To get full-range sound, you must identify which pair of wires carries the full signal or use a "summing" interface to combine the frequencies.

How do I connect the wires if I don't want to cut my factory car plugs?

Use a "Quick-Connect" wiring harness (e.g., Metra 72-series). These plug directly into your car's factory connector and have spade terminals that slide onto the Kicker speakers, making it a "plug-and-play" installation.

The magnet is hitting my window track inside the door. How do I fix this?

These have a mounting depth of 3.19". If they interfere with the window, install a 1/2" plastic spacer. This moves the magnet forward and away from the glass path while still allowing the door panel to fit in most vehicles.
